The next incremental deadline for Darkness in the Forest is creeping up: 450 pages by tommorrow evening. I'm at 444 pages now, but my chances for writing in the next two days are going to be few. Will I get it done? I suppose it doesn't matter if I don't, but it's kind of a matter of personal pride.
On a slightly more positive note, the first chapter of my upcoming work in progress, The Twilight Trilogy, has been completed. I've already done almost all of the planning, and I was in a bit of a rut with DITF, so I decided to sit down and write the first chapter. I like it! I've put it up for critique on the Forward Motion community, and I'm already getting replies.

This is my first entry. I've kept journals before, but none of them lasted more than a couple of months--in fact, I've just dug an old one out of my computer's hard drive; it hasn't been touched for over a year. Let's hope that I can keep updating this one at reasonably regular intervals.
Okay, maybe I should outline what I hope to note down in this blog. Primarily, it's going to be somewhere where I can post my progress in writing. My current novel, Darkness in the Forest, is nearing completion. I'm guessing I've got a month at most before the first draft is completed, and then, truly, I'll be into the unidscovered country. I've got a 300,000 word fantasy trilogy on the drawing board, which will probably become my WIP for the next two years. I'll post more here when something interesting happens.

(By the way, my website is located at http://www.roddie.demon.co.uk/ . It's aimed at beginning fantasy writers, so if that description fits you, go and take a look. There are a number of articles available for viewing, as well as an archive of some of my early work and an online forum, for which I desperately need members.)
